We’ll have booths with information and people to talk to, but the most important thing is that we’re talking about it and helping people be safe and healthy. The Return of the Legendary Hitman — Why Sakamoto Days Part 2 Is Blowing Up on Netflix

The legendary hitman is back with even more action and comedy! The end of Part One introduced four convicted murderers whose escape was secretly orchestrated by Kashima to assassinate Sakamoto and his team. Sakamoto and his group now confront these killers, hoping they’ll lead them closer to Slur, the man behind the one-billion-yen bounty on Sakamoto’s head. Both Part one and Part two were produced by the same animation studio, TMS Entertainment. The studio did a commendable job bringing the manga’s art style to life on screen. While there’s not much to boast about in terms of innovation and a few fight scenes may feel like missed opportunities, TMS Entertainment still delivered a solid adaptation, successfully capturing the essence of Sakamoto Days and checking all the important boxes.


Music 5/5

The opening song for Sakamoto Days Part Two is an absolute banger. “Method,” performed by Kroi, easily fits into any Japanese music playlist. Its groovy melody and upbeat rap contrast beautifully with lyrics that reflect the darker moments of Sakamoto’s past. The ending theme, “Dandelion” by go!go!vanillas, captures the defining choice of Sakamoto’s life, leaving behind darkness to embrace family. Both songs perfectly complement the anime’s story while standing strong as independent tracks.

Story  ⅘

The story is already well-developed in the manga, and the anime adaptation remains faithful, with only minor changes that don’t affect the overarching plot. Lore-wise, everything follows a fairly standard path, detailing Sakamoto’s origins and his transformation into the man he is now. Still, there’s a refreshing novelty in a story where the main protagonist isn’t always the central focus. It’s a fresh take and a welcome return of a well-written mafia and assassin-themed shounen.

Sakamoto Days is easily one of the best anime releases to date. With the backing of Netflix and a live-action adaptation currently in development, fans can look forward to even more exciting content from the franchise. Its long-term success remains to be seen, but for now, Sakamoto Days is absolutely worth watching. If you enjoy the shounen-comedy genre, this series deserves a spot on your watchlist.
